The Ultra-Thin MODILIS-FlexFilm™

Modern devices, such as mobile phones, PDA’s, GPS devices, digital camera’s and watches, have recently gone through a period of rapid development.

Now, more than ever, these devices (and more importantly, the customers that buy them) demand a high quality LCD display and keypad solution.

Future devices (for example curved panels) will need an ever increasing performance from the backlight, and their shapes are only limited by the imagination of the designers.

This, demands an extremely flexible, thin and effective lightguide solution, with increased brightness and uniformity of light distribution, which simultaneously decreases thickness and power consumption.

Oy Modilis Ltd has successfully developed and combined a totally new type of light source technology with diffractive optics (DO), and specific plastic component engineering.

This technology has led to the development of the highly effective new generation lightguide film solutions, which are extremely thin (0.075mm – 0.49 mm).

The MODILIS-FlexFilm™ shows excellent brightness and uniformity, and enhances the performance of the LCD-displays and keypads.

It also results in very light display solutions (less weight), and allows for single film lightguide solutions for display lighting, with integrated keypad lighting.

At the same time, the MODILIS-FlexFilm™ offers a short lead time in design, and the
production of this ultra-thin, and flexible film lightguide, is done via a very fast, and extremely cost-efficient reel-to-reel process. This means much cheaper and better display solutions.
